Carpet Cleaning Guide to Oil Removal

If you are someone who loves to get creative or a bit wild in the kitchen it is important that you are aware of some basic cleaning techniques instead of turning to professional cleaning services every time. The everyday kitchen items that can cause havoc on your carpet range from a wandering meat ball to a glass of wine to an accidentally slipped grape juice, accidentally dropped spaghetti.  This is particular true if the placement of your carpet is right on the cusp on your kitchen.
While the stains mentioned above are troublesome, the most notorious of cooking stains on your carpet are those of grease or oil. Luckily though, here are a few tips and tricks to help you get that oil stain out of your carpet.
·         Blot
Before you start employing all your strength in trying to rid your carpet off the excess oil, make sure that you try to blot up as much of it as possible. Most professional carpet cleaning services also look to use their super swappers to blot up the oil at the start. The best way to blot the oil up is to make use of either an absorbent towel, brown paper bag or a rag. Blotting that is carefully and religiously done can remove more than half of the stain this way.
·         Coat the stain with powder
Instead of using large number of chemicals and high powered tools like a carpet cleaning service would. Make sure that you pin point the exact location of the oil stain before coating that area with corn starch or baking soda. Once you have coated the area, let it rest for at least 12 hours so that the powder can absorb as much of the oil as possible. After at least 12 hours vacuum the powder to check if the stain has disappeared or not.
·         Wash it with Dish Cleaning Soap
If the powder experience has only been successful in trying to lessen the carpet stain instead of removing it as was expected. Now is the time for you to really get on the cleaning bike. Make a nice solution of dish washing detergent with warm water in a bowl and mix it thoroughly until it starts to produce bubbles.
Once it starts to produce bubbles apply it to the stain and gently start to rub it increasing your intensity each time. Make sure the scrubbing is done with a brush or a sponge instead of a simple cloth. Once the steps is completed, rinse the area with water and blot up the remaining water, you may need to do this step more than once to make sure that you carpet is truly cleaned.
While the above tips and tricks are likely to clean the oil stain off your carpet, if that is not the case, make sure you call professional carpet cleaning services to do it for you. Sometimes the oil stains can become embedded in the carpet’s fibers and can only be removed using high powered carpet cleaning chemicals.
